Start small. Think big.

The plan

We see the Traidcraft project in two separate phases. The first is about doing a few simple things well, the second about supporting innovation and influencing the world of trade as a whole.

PHASE 1 - Start small.

In this stage we are aiming to make a small and impactful range of Traidcraft products available for purchase through ethical businesses in the UK.

Christmas cards will be available for the 2023 season and we’re currently in conversations about bringing back the classic Traidcraft tea blends.

We’re also seeking to use the ‘Traidcraft mark’ to pioneer new fair trade products and promote fairness in supply chains which can’t yet access the Fairtrade mark.

The focus as always will be on how we can partner with producers who are creating innovative, transformative products that lead to sustainable income for communities around the world.

PHASE 2 - Think big.

Traidcraft, since the beginning, has been a pioneer. But the role it played in 1979 is not the role it needs to play in 2023 and beyond.

With that in mind, we’re planning for a future in which Traidcraft can influence world trade by partnering with the most innovative and forward-thinking producer groups in the world - and letting their ideas, their products and their stories do the talking.

What could that look like?

The world of trade has an open secret - it’s unsustainable. In fact it’s an environmental calamity.

The pursuit of justice over the next 40 years may well be defined by how well businesses respond to an escalating climate crisis. In this area, Traidcraft could play an important role.

Many of the most eco-friendly, people-centred and regenerative trading practices are arising, out of necessity, in the global south. By partnering with forward-thinking producer groups and bringing innovative, climate-restoring products to market, Traidcraft can forge new paths towards a future of regenerative trade.
