The world of trade has some serious problems…
But it also has serious potential - something Traidcraft producers have demonstrated for decades.
After more than 40 years of pioneering in fair trade, Traidcraft exists to demonstrate the best that fair trade can be. As the trading arm of Transform Trade, we aim to support producers around the world to get a fair deal from trade.
We are working alongside producers to rebuild Traidcraft in the right way - as a positive resource and route to market for communities around the world.
We see Traidcraft’s mission in two parts…
1 - Start small
As the trading arm of Transform Trade, Traidcraft is bringing back a small and impactful range of products available for purchase through ethical businesses in the UK.
The focus as always is on how we can support producers who are creating innovative, transformative products that lead to sustainable income for communities around the world.
The journey so far…
Transform Trade and True Origin have worked together to bring back one of Traidcraft’s best loved products, Traidcraft tea.
Christmas cards were sold for the first time for the 2023 season and after much success will return for autumn 2024! We’re currently exploring the potential for a range of greetings cards too.
We’re also using the ‘Traidcraft mark’ to pioneer other new fair trade products and promote fairness in supply chains which can’t yet access the Fairtrade mark.
2 - Think big
Traidcraft exists to demonstrate the best that fair trade can be, but it operates in the realities of a trade system stacked against the world’s producers.
We can take what we learn in pioneering ethical, community-transforming products and use that to influence others to improve their practices.
Through collaboration with like minded organisations and ethical partners we can use the Traidcraft name to strengthen the wider Fairtrade movement and influence mainstream trade in a positive direction.
Into the UK market
The new Traidcraft is designed to strengthen the fair trade movement and so we’ll partner with a range of ethical businesses to make Traidcraft products available to UK customers. We’ll also support producers to sell their own products.
